Apple Picking

Last week, Houst and I headed back up to the bluff to go apple picking with Rachel and Ava. I had been dreaming about the peach milk shake and hazelnut brownie since we left last time and decided to head back to that same farm. We found they did not have pick your own apples so we walked to the next farm which did. Ava and Houston were very content to walk around the orchard. Houst was a fan of picking them up off the ground, giving it one bite, then moving on to the next. Ava did better and actually helped pick some. After we got our 20 something lbs of apples, we headed back to our cars for some lunch. This time we tried a strawberry shake (delightful!) and some sandwiches. The grilled cheese was extremely yummy (thanks to Ava for not finishing her kids meal! She ate my burger instead). It tasted like the macaroni grill bread and was very tasty.

It ended up taking all morning so our kids were pretty wasted but mustered up enough energy to give us grief when it was time to take them away from the playground and into the cars. It was a wonderful morning. Thanks for coming Rach! Now... any idea what to do with 20 lbs of apples?

I've always wanted to go apple picking!!! Looks like so much fun. Hmm apples... baked apples, apple pie, apple crisp, apple cake, apple & cinnamon muffins and Cracker Barrel's fried apples. (let me know if you want recipes for the apple cake and fried apples - they are really good!) And what Ashley said, applesauce!
